How Smells Stick To Your Memories: Your Nose Can Be A Pathfinder

Waves in your brain make smells stick to your memories and inner maps.Researchers at the Kavli Institute for Systems Neuroscience have recently discovered the process behind this phenomenon. The brain, it turns out, connects smells to memories through an associative process where neural networks are linked through synchronized brain waves of 20-40 Hz. The results are published in the latest edition of Nature.

    Hello,
This is my first time posting to this site. I actually stumbled accross it and thankful that I did. I just celebrated my 56th birthday on Friday 4/25. And, while I felt it to be just another day….I treated myself to a movie at the theater. Is Heaven for Real. Great movie! Loved it! Cried….was deeply touched. Over the last few years I have been experiencing a multitude of hot flashes that have me sizzling….truly. I have said to those nearby or sitting next to me to make sure they bring their umbrella as I squirt! I know this to be humorous however, I am sooooooo done with it! I have fans everwhere! I think I’m the only one driving down the freeway at 11pm with the windows down and my head sticking out of the driver’s window while it is clearly raining and 38 degrees outside. Geez, the only thing I need to do is start barking! Better yet, stop, get out a bar of soap and take a shower!
I am not sleeping at nights, night sweats, restless nights. I take a “pill cocktail” every night that include 3 ibuprophen pm’s, 3 tabs of magnesium, 2 valerian tablets, and rotate the 2 tabs of super snooze with melatonin and SomaRest. Lastly, 2 tablets of the PM formula “Complete Menopause Support Complex” to top it off.
I am at my wits end. My clothes no longer fit. I have become round like a rotunda and to add fuel to my hot flashes, I take syntheroid for my underactive thyroid. Sleep is just another word. I work out 3-4 days a week at 1.5 hr each time. Weights, cardio. I have gone up the scale and down the scale. I think anerexia is my next step. I could list more but this seems to be the most important part since I can remember. Im tired and just reaching out. Thanks for reading….
