Ellen: Hi, are you postmenopausal and afraid of aerobic exercise? Well, I’m Ellen at EllenDolgen.com and #MENOPAUSEMONDAYS®. Let’s go for a walk.
Daniel: All right, Ellen, that wasn’t so bad, was it?
Ellen: No, it really was, it went by so fast. How long was it?
Daniel: Thirty minutes.
Ellen: That’s it? Thirty minutes?
Daniel: Thirty minutes.
Ellen: How many times a week?
Daniel: If you can get thirty minutes five times a week, you’ll be on to a great start to a healthier you.
Ellen: I’m in. Daniel, since last week I’ve been walking for thirty minutes every day, anytime during the day I have Sometimes I do it in the morning and sometimes I do it after work, but I’ve got thirty minutes in every day. It was so doable.
Daniel: Ellen, research has shown that postmenopausal women who have an active lifestyle have also shown improvements in their quality of life. Which means that they’ve had reduced hot flashes, increased sense of well-being and increased mood as well.
Ellen: Yeah.
Daniel: Also, you burn calories and help with bone density.
Ellen: Yeah, yeah, it’s fantastic. I mean North American Menopause Society just reported that study last week, and I think that women should try it. Try just thirty minutes a day. It’s doable. You don’t have to be a jock. I promise.
Daniel: Have you gotten your walk in today?
Ellen: Not yet.
Daniel: Let’s go.
