New Year Wishes

I hope that in 2023 a bright light will shine on menopause and women's health needs and that women everywhere will be able to get the help and support they need and deserve.

Happy 2023!

Thank you for joining me in my mission to educate women about perimenopause, menopause, and post-menopause.  Together we have tackled all the hot topics associated with midlife and beyond. However, we still have a lot of work to do.

The gender gap in medical research is holding women and our economy back.  Check out my interview with the brilliant and dynamic Carolee Lee, Founder of WHAM.  WHAM stands for Women’s Health Access Matters:   Menopause Mondays®– Time to End the Gender Bias Against Women in Medical Research!

To further speak to this, here are some enlightening takeaways from a recent article in Forbes

As of 2021, the population of females in the world is estimated at 3.905 billion, representing 49.58% of the world population. Some of these women have gone through and some will go through menopause. By the year 2025, the number of postmenopausal women is expected to rise to 1.1 billion worldwide, according to the North American Menopause Society (NAMS).

According to the AARP, only 20% of OB-GYN residency programs in the U.S. offer training in menopause. As a result, many medical professionals don’t have the clinical training to diagnose and treat menopausal symptoms, and women are left with insufficient options and support, often being told to ‘just deal with it’. It is clear there is a huge unmet need and an opportunity for impact by creating a solution that can help women feel understood and supported on their journey.

Women aged 40 to 59 have the highest rate of depression of any group based on age and gender in the U.S, and women have a 1 in 5 chance of developing cognitive diseases, particularly Alzheimer’s, compared to a 1 in 11 chance for men. Despite these stats, innovation for women’s health in later life has been practically non-existent.

Perimenopause, menopause, and post-menopause are hot right now. You can help keep the spotlight on menopause and women’s health needs by:

Women everywhere should be able to get the help and support they need and deserve.

As we progress in this menopause revolution together, let’s face each day with self-love and an open heart.

Happy HEALTHY New Year!
