Wayne State University School of Medicine: A new study from neuroscientists at the Wayne State University School of Medicine provides the first novel insights into the neural origins of hot flashes in menopausal women in years.
The first experimental drug to boost brain synapses lost in Alzheimer’s disease has been developed by researchers at Sanford-Burnham. The drug, called NitroMemantine, combines two FDA-approved medicines to stop the destructive cascade of changes in the brain that destroys the connections between neurons, leading to memory loss and cognitive decline. – Learn more here.
Getting at least seven hours of sleep a night further lowers the risk of CVD (Cardiovascular Disease) —according to a large, population-based study in the Netherlands published online July 2, 2013 in the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology. Also on the list is: 1) Spending 3.5 or more hours a week cycling or doing other sports at a moderate to vigorous intensity 2) A modified Mediterranean diet score of five or higher 3) One drink of alcohol or more a month and 4) not smoking.
