Ellen’s own very personal (difficult) struggle through perimenopause led her to self-publish her first book in 2009, which she co-authored with her son, Jack Dolgen. Jack is an Emmy Award winner for best music and lyrics for Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, which aired for four years on the CW. He was also an Executive Producer, Director, and Scriptwriter for the show. In addition, he is known for his work on Diary of a Future President and is currently producing a new series for Netflix titled Pretty Smart. Her daughter, Sarah Dolgen Shaftel, assisted with the PR effort. Sarah is the founder of Cooking With Luv. You can find her on Instagram teaching us fearless, creative, and easy cooking for family and friends. Her husband, David, encouraged her and supported her mission while at the same time dealing with her often tumultuous menopausal journey. It was a true family affair!
Together, they created EllenDolgen.com.
Not long after she and Jack self-published Shmirshky: think inside the box, HyperionVOICE picked it up, and together, Jack and Ellen wrote Shmirshky: the pursuit of hormone happiness.
Their latest book is an eBook, MENOPAUSE MONDAYS The Girlfriend’s Guide to Surviving and Thriving During Perimenopause and Menopause, is a comprehensive guide to all things menopause—the symptoms, the treatments, and the long-range effects on a woman’s health. They share the expertise of numerous specialists to replace confusion and embarrassment with medically sound solutions presented in an entertaining and informative way. In addition to sharing the latest research and proven treatments, you will learn how to find a menopause specialist, tests to ask for, info on the latest studies on hormone replacement, as well as alternative therapies and remedies. Finally, you can read about some of the real-life experiences of women—and those who love them—as they traverse the crazy ups and downs of perimenopause and menopause. The book is divided up into the most common symptoms you or your loved one may experience, from hot flashes and mood swings to mental fogginess and loss of libido, and lots more in between. This book will be offered as an added benefit to Ellen’s menopause course.
For Ellen Dolgen, menopause education is a mission. Spurred by her own experience struggling with the symptoms of menopause, Dolgen has devoted the last ten years of her life to helping other women during this often difficult time. While she’s not a doctor or scientist, she’s “talked the talk” with countless menopause experts so that she can “walk the menopause walk” and share the keys to this menopause kingdom. The new eBook reads like you are having a cocktail with your best friend, who happens to know a lot about perimenopause, menopause, and post-menopause! Laugh and learn!
