Estrogen bolsters urinary tract infection (UTI) defense in menopausal women. Results published in Science Translational Medicine show that estrogen supplements may help ward off recurrent urinary tract infections by stimulating the body’s own antibiotic.

Hormone therapies not linked to cognitive problems in younger postmenopausal women. Research published in JAMA Internal Medicine shows that women taking a common form of hormone replacement therapy were no more likely to have cognitive problems in their 60’s.

Mediterranean diets reduce menopausal symptoms says a recent study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. After comparing six diets, Mediterranean-style foods appeared to decrease the risk of night sweats and hot flashes in women going through menopause
